Cannot get into battery compartment

The sensor for my Nest Thermostat shows that it needs a new battery. The issue is that I cannot get the piece to turn in order to open the compartment. I have tried a coin and a butter knife, but the dial wont budge. Any suggestions?

I understand how frustrating it can be to change the batteries of your Nest Temperature sensor if the cover isn’t coming off. Don’t worry, let’s see what can be done about it.

Can you tell me which specific generation of Nest Temperature sensor you have? If you happen to have a 2nd-generation Nest Temperature Sensor, remember to rotate the entire back cover to remove it.

If you have a 1st-generation Nest Temperature Sensor, do you see any damage on the slot on the back of your sensor? If you can insert a smaller coin or a screwdriver and then turn it counterclockwise to test if you can remove it, I would really appreciate it.
