Installed a new nest thermostat in a brand new house. Has a C wire also.  Everything was easy until I put it on cool and it's the heat. Any advice on wiring. Pics belows

I don't believe it's a wiring issue. Try these instructions from https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9257086, 3. Change the O/B wire settings:

  1. Open the Home app DaveLister_2-1686024279932.png.
  2. Tap your thermostat.
  3. At the top right, tap SettingsDaveLister_3-1686024297513.png.
  4. Select Thermostat.
  5. Scroll until you find Heat pump. It should show which wire configuration is currently selected.
    • If the O option is highlighted, select B.
    • If the B option is highlighted, select O.
  6. To make sure the issue is resolved, test your heating and cooling again.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.

Thanks for sharing the step, @DaveLister.

@Jmtreport, In addition to what was shared above, after changing your heat pump's orientation, to ensure that it syncs the changes in its settings, restart your thermostat itself to refresh.
Please let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
