Hi

we just upgraded our HVAC system and we are using a Carrie infinity thermostat. I tried multiple time to link to google home but it states error. Is this a common problem? Looking online it states new version of the home app has this problem. What do u think can help? Thanks

If that's the case, I believe you'll have to call Google Home support to help you with this.

Hi Home119955,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you ― let’s check it out. A few questions: was it working before? What are the Nest speakers linked to your Google Home app? Were you able to control your thermostat via voice command? Is it working on its native app? Also, what is the exact make and model of your thermostat to know if it’s compatible with Google Home?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers and your thermostat.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

If you could unlink the thermostat from its app and link it back in. Once you’re able to control it, follow the steps below to link it to your Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the upper-right, tap the account icon.
  3. Tap Assistant settings and then Home control.

@eveluna, thanks for the help.

Kind regards,

Dan

Thanks for the details you provided. You can uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app and observe if it will make a difference. Using another mobile phone will help us further isolate the issue.

I used my wife’s phone. It didn’t work either. I’m just gonna have to settle with the way it is I guess. Maybe an update for the carrier app will happen in the future. Thanks

Hi Home119955

Thanks for the response and sorry for the delay. It would also help you if you can contact the manufacturer directly. Partners are expected to support the integration of their products with Google Nest and Home devices.
