Changed Google password, Home vanished. Thermostat unable to be recognized

I had to change my Google password due to a security threat, and what a gong show. My Google hub display made me reconnect, and theny home was missing, I had to manually add every device again. Then comes the nest. I go to add, scan the QR code, can't find it. I try to add manually, but the "already installed" function doesn't work, wants me to rewire it (it's been working great for over a year).

So I factory reset the thermostat, and still nothing. Unable to be found on Bluetooth, QR scan gives me nothing.

How did changing a password become a literally all day event? I lost everything to do with Home, including rooms, address, routines... Unreal.

Hi there Sethbclark,

Thanks for letting us know about this situation.

I understand how frustrating it can be to re-add all your devices. Since you can't add your Nest thermostat yet, don't worry. Let's work through it and get everything set up the way it was before.

Does your thermostat have any removable batteries on the back? Some thermostats need to be set up in the Nest app before being added to the Google Home app. Let me know if you see batteries.

It's unusual that your home structure in the Google Home app disappeared. Are you logged into a different Google account? If so, you might need to remove the thermostat from that account by going to Settings > Remove device Remove.

In addition, make sure the device you're using for pairing isn't in airplane mode. If your thermostat has removable batteries, ensure they have enough power.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Angel.
