Changing temperature on Nest E thermostat

SmokeyMax
Community Member

Hello,

I am new to nest themostats, but I would like my temperature to be 72 degrees in my house, On my app it says heating, 72 degrees in 2+ hours.  My indoor temperature says 70.  How can I adjust this to get to the 72 degrees that I want?  I have turned off auto-schedule and I have turned on early-on which says on-ready.  When I woke up this morning it was 60 degrees in the house and I have not been able to get it to the 72 degrees that I want.  We have a forced air propane furnace with a heat pump.  I want my temperature to go down to 70 degrees when I go to bed and to have 72 degrees when I wake up.  I don't think this is too much, maybe it is my age that I don't understand the new technology of nest e thermostats, I just want to have 72 degrees throughout the day.

I am getting really sick of this thermostat as I can't get the temperature that I want in my house.

If anyone can please assist me in getting the temperature when I want it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for any help I can get.

Hey SmokeyMax,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

1. How is your Nest Thermostat wired?

2. What is the power reading of your Nest Thermostat? You can find this information by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power.
3. What country are you located in?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Archie

Hello Archie,  Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, lots going on.  First of all I wanted to thank you for reaching out on my issue with the thermostat.  I have since found out from an installer that because we have a heat pump as well as the furnace that when it say's 72 in 2+ hours it that it means that the heat pump calculates that it will take 2+ hours to reach our 72 degree temperature.

Hopefully now that I understand it a little better, we won't have any further issues.

Thanks again and have a great day

Michele

Hi SmokeyMax,

Thanks for reaching out, I saw your post and wanted to chime in.

You got it! When you set a specific temperature on your Nest Thermostat, it will give you an estimated time on how long it will take to reach your set temperature, like the 2+ hours you found on your thermostat.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Thanks @aatienza for your help.

Best,

Jenelyn
