Why is it when I change the cooling temperature the heating temperature also changes and is there any way to set the temperatures separately?

Hi Microbus13,

Thanks for reaching out. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? You can visit this link to check what type of thermostat you have. Also, could you please take a photo of your thermostat screen showing the temperature? You can visit this support article for more information on how to change the temperature of your thermostat.

Best,

Jenelyn

Yes I do. I have a Nest model 1.4 and when setting my preset temperature when I change the heat the cooling also changes.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for helping here, Jenelyn.

@Microbus13, we appreciate you sharing the screenshots. You can change your temperature by going to these settings:

  1. Open the Google Home app and select your thermostat icon.
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Device Settings."
  3. Under Device Features, tap the Temperature preferences.

Please let us know if that helps.

Regards,

Mark

Yes but when I do say I want to preset my “Comfort” in the heating mode. The temperature for the cooling mode also changes. I can’t change them independently.

Hello Microbus13,

Thanks for trying. Could you give these steps another shot? Clear all your temperature schedules from the Read-made feature and create new schedules instead, so you can manually create your own temperature schedules and adjust to your preferred set. Also, please check out this article about Temperature schedules for the Nest Thermostat and let me know if you need more help.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks, but that didn’t help. Maybe this is just how it is designed to work since both the heating and cooling temperatures are displayed together?

Hey there,

I'm sorry for the late response. The Temperature Presets are a ready-made temperature, so you no longer need to adjust them. This is the default temperature in most homes. Adjusting it beyond what you prefer hinders you from lowering or raising it more. I would suggest creating a custom temperature instead.

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards,
Mark
