Configuring a new Nest Thermostat for a new Bosch IDS 2.0 heat pump

I apologize if this has been covered before (the post "Bosch IDS 2.0 Split System Heat Pump and BCC100 Thermostat Compatibility with Nest Thermostat" by pdkirby touched on this subject, but didn't quite answer my specific question).

We just recently had a new heat pump installed in an old house, and I supplied the Nest Thermostat (Model G4CVZ), which I chose because we have multiple Nest cameras and Nest Protects already installed and connected to Google Home. The installer wired it as follows:

    Y - cooling              G - fan

    C - common          R - 24 VAC

    W - heat                  O/B - reversing valve

which I believe to be correct. After getting the thermostat connected to WiFi and configured, we set it to "Heat", and it attempted to cool instead. I figured that I had answered wrong to the query about whether "O/B" should be "O" or "B". There didn't appear to be a way to simply change that one simple setting (WTH?), so I deleted the device (from Home) and started through the whole configuration process again (very tedious). Somehow I took a wrong turn somewhere and never saw the question the second time through.

Since the installers were just standing around wanting to check out the system so they could get on to their next job, I told them to remove the Nest and put in a "dumb" thermostat, which they did. The new heat pump works fine. I would like to now install the Nest, but don't want to repeat the mistakes I made last time. Is there some kind of a road map to the questions I'll encounter during the setup process?

Post a picture of the current thermostat's wiring here.

Which I believe is:

White:  W2 - AUX/E           Brown: C - C

Green: G - G                       Yellow:  Y - Y

Blue:     W - O/B                  Red:       R - R

My primary question remains: what are the choices I must make during the setup/configuration of the Nest to make it work?

Actually, what I really want to know is, why, with all the resources at Google’s disposal, isn’t there a cheat sheet for every major brand and model of heat pump? Here’s the wiring diagram, here’s the configuration you need. Done.

@CHOeld

It's impossible to have a cheat sheet as every install is different even when using the same equipment.

The wiring would be something like this.

White - AUX/E to E (set as AUX heat)

Green - G to G

Blue - O/B to */OB

Brown - C to C

Yellow - Y to Y

Red - RC to R (jumper not needed)

Thank you for your reply. I’m sorry I confused the issue with my offhand “question” about cheat sheets. My original question was primarily concerning the configuration process: “Is there some kind of a road map to the questions I'll encounter during the setup process?”
