Connecting secondary hot water system to nest

Hi thank you for reading my post.

I have a std boiler setup. Tanks. Hot water tank. Twin zones. So two Nests. One of the Nests has the hot water attached to it.

In the boiler room, as well as the two link stations, one per zone (upstairs and downstairs), I also have a secondary water system with the standard Honeywell timer. Is it possible to link the secondary water to the upstairs link station instead of the Honeywell time, to allow me to trigger a schedule for the secondary hot water to flow at certain times of the day? Im sure it’s quite easy. I just didn’t wish to barrel in all guns blazing 🤣

Hi there @Elbowe.

Thanks for letting me know. As far as I've seen from your description, it seems the setup for the heating is all good, as for the hot water, if you have another programmer that's linked to the hot water tank and it's used to control the hot water timing, instead of the tank being linked directly to the Heat Link, you can set the extra programmer to "Always ON" and technically it should leave it to the Heat Link to decide that, but we usually recommend that the tank is wired directly to the Heat Link's terminals accordingly to the type of valve structure that you have (S plan, 2 separate valves for heating and hot water, or Y plan, which resumes of 1 valve Y shaped for both heating and hot water). However, you can find more details in the installation guide at pages 22 and 23 here: 3rd-gen-Nest-Learning-Thermostat-Install-Guide-UK
