A TD030 error may occur because:

The assistive device that the thermostat uses to communicate on the thread network is disabled.
The phone and the assistive device are on two different Wi-Fi networks.

Follow the steps below to verify that the assistive device is working properly.

Make sure the assistive device is turned on. If not, charge it or connect it to a working power source.
If the assistive device is not in use, remove it from the Nest app.
If you have more than one Wi-Fi network, you may need to move your phone to the same network that the booster is using. Advanced troubleshooting steps 1. Check Multicast settings on your router and documentation If your router is supported by the Nest thermostat, you need to check your router configuration to ensure that Multicast is enabled for all devices on your network.

If multicast is fully enabled, check your router's documentation to see if it supports multicast on internal networks, which is required for the Nest thermostat. Most recent routers support multicast for external Internet connections, but some may not support multicast between devices on your home network. If not, try an alternative router that has full multicast support to know if that solves your Nest thermostat connection problem. 2 Check your Wi-Fi router's firmware version Check your router's firmware version and compare it to the latest firmware published on the manufacturer's website. If it is not up to date, download the latest version and follow the installation instructions. Your router may also have an automatic update feature. Check your router's documentation to see if this feature is available. If it is, enable it to ensure that the firmware is always the latest. 3 Removing and Replacing Open Source Firmware Open source or third-party firmware, such as DD-WRT, OpenWRT, and Tomato, can be installed to enable additional features on some routers. However, open source firmware is not supported by the Nest thermostat. Some versions may work, but compatibility may vary by release.

If you are using third-party firmware, it is recommended that you uninstall it and update to the latest firmware available directly from the manufacturer. To uninstall the firmware, get detailed instructions from the firmware source, and see the Nest manual for instructions on installing and updating the original firmware. 4. reset the Nest thermostat to its default settings. If nothing else has helped, as a last resort you can reset the Nest thermostat and restart the setup from the beginning. Once the Nest thermostat is reset, all saved settings and information will be erased. Restarting or resetting the Nest Thermostat

Manually restart if your Nest thermostat is frozen

We only recommend this method if your thermostat is stuck or frozen, and you can’t reach the menu to restart your thermostat as described in the section above.

Important: If you manually restart your thermostat, it could lose some unsaved information.

Nest Thermostat

  1. Pull your thermostat off its base.
  2. Remove both AAA batteries.
  3. Replace the batteries and press your thermostat onto the base until it clicks into place.
  4. Your thermostat will take a few moments to turn on and restart.

or all personal settings, such as temperature schedule. The differences between a restart and a reset
Thermostat reboot:

Your thermostat retains all of its settings, just like when you restart your computer, phone, or tablet.
This is a useful troubleshooting step if your thermostat gets stuck or freezes, has internet connection issues, or doesn't work normally.
When you reset your thermostat

The thermostat will erase some or all of the information, depending on the option you choose. The thermostat will reset to its factory default settings.
This is useful if you are moving out and need to install the thermostat in a new location, or if you want to leave the thermostat and delete all your personal information.

Nest Thermostat
Navigate to the Nest settings icon, then select Restart or Factory Reset . Your thermostat will ask you to confirm your selection. Once confirmed, the thermostat will take a few moments to restart or reset.

If you select Factory Reset, it will erase all personal settings. Once the default settings are restored, you will need to reconfigure the thermostat and add it to your home in the app, just as you did when you first installed it.
To reset the connection to your Nest thermostat account, go to the Nest Settings icon, then Account and select Disconnect. This will remove it from the Home app, so you won't be able to access any controls or settings.

To restart the thermostat

Restart

Restarting your thermostat will not lose any information or settings, similar to a computer, phone or tablet. Once the thermostat is restarted, you can continue to use it.

To reset all or some of the thermostat information

Schedule

This option will delete the entire temperature schedule. Use this option if you want the thermostat to start learning a new schedule.

All setpoints that the thermostat has learned or that you have created will be deleted. You will have to create a new schedule from scratch or wait for the thermostat to learn a new schedule.

Note: If you are using Nest Thermostat E and have Auto-Schedule disabled, you will see the option to reset to a blank schedule as described above or a basic schedule. The Basic schedule is a pre-filled schedule based on the national average that strikes a balance between energy savings and comfort.

Home/Out

The thermostat learns how often you walk by so it knows when to automatically switch to and from Eco Temperature when you leave and return home. If you reset Home/Away on the thermostat, everything it has learned about when you are in or out of the house will be reset.

Use this option if you move your thermostat to a new location in your home, or if you have your home remodeled. The thermostat will learn about the new location within a few days.

Tip: Enable phone location to streamline automatic switching between Home and Away modes.

Connecting to your account

Note: Depending on the thermostat software version, this option may not be visible.

This option will remove the account connection from the thermostat.

After resetting the account connection, you will still see your thermostat in the app. However, the thermostat will be displayed as "offline" and cannot be controlled from the app. To remove it from your account and the app, you'll need to go to your thermostat settings.

Tip: If you are moving and leaving your thermostat behind and want to use this option, you can also reset the temperature schedule. This will allow the new owners to control the system from day one while the thermostat learns the schedule for them.

WWN Connection

Note: You may not see this option depending on the software version of your thermostat.

This option will remove all existing Works with Nest connections between your thermostat and other devices.

If you have Works with Nest (WWN) devices that are connected to your thermostat, they may have stopped working.

If you have not migrated to a Google account, you can restore WWN functionality:
Delete the thermostat from your account.
Reset your WWN connection using this option.
Add the thermostat to your account again.
If you have already migrated to a Google account, use the Google Home app to connect your device through Works with Hey Google:
1. tap Add on the Home app home screen.
2. select Configure device.
3. browse the Works with Google list for your WWN device and select it. Then follow the app's instructions.
Network

Note: Depending on your thermostat software version, this option may not be visible.

This option will remove all network information from your thermostat. Your thermostat will no longer be connected to the Internet and will forget your WI-Fi credentials.

To reconnect your thermostat to the Internet, you must select Wi-Fi from the Settings menu, then Network.

All settings

This option will delete all personal settings and reset the thermostat to factory defaults.

Important: Before using this option, you must remove the thermostat from your account in the app to restore the default settings.

Deleting a thermostat from an account

After restoring the default settings, you will need to reconfigure the thermostat and add it to your home in the app, just as you did when you first installed it.

Configuring your thermostat

Connect your thermostat to the app

Your thermostat will need time to get to know you and your home before creating a schedule and activating energy saving features.

How your thermostat learns

Note: If you have any Nest temperature sensors, resetting your thermostat will not remove them from your account.
