Honeywell Wiring BlockHoneywell Wiring BlockAir HandlerAir HandlerAir Handler Wiring DiagramAir Handler Wiring Diagram

When I installed the NEST Learning Thermostat I was upgrading from a Honeywell wi-fi smart thermostat where we had to jump the green fan wire to the C terminal on the air handler. Before the install I reattached the green wire to the G terminal (picture 2, G terminal in between the W1 and O terminal). I then connected the Rc and R wires from the Honeywell block to the Rc and Rh terminal on the Nest block respectively. I connected the green wire to the G terminal on the nest block, the W wire to the W1 terminal and the Y wire to the Y1 terminal. The thermostat booted up but only the Cool mode was showing, no other modes. I did not reset the thermostat although it did go thru a set up before I switched over the green wire.

My questions are;

-do I need to reset the thermostat and go thru the set up again?

- do I need a heat link for this thermostat to work

- is there something wrong with the way I'm wiring to the Nest block?

Please advise, I appreciate any help I can get.

PS: I will clean up the wiring connections once I know I'm doing it right 😉
