Continue setup

I know this has been on here before but since I'm unable to post to it, here it is again. I just received a new Nest Thermostat E (mirrored) to replace an older Nest.

I downloaded/installed the Google Home app.

I connected the wires.

Scanning the QR code on the back of the Nest brought up gibberish. So no setup info.

I put the device on the connectors.

Setup all the necessary info in the app.

Thermostat is still requesting I continue setup in the Google Home app.

I've cleared the cache in the app as well as the data to do it all over again. Still not working.

What am I missing?

I was able to figure it out & it is now working. I deleted the thermostat & let the wifi find it. It requested the QR code & that took me through the entire setup.

Thank you for your assistance!!

@Micmax

Doesn't the Nest Thermostat E get installed in the Google Nest app and NOT in the Google Home app?

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9301088?hl=en

And about 4:50 in this install video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83Wa2aMt5Ns

Or is there another model that gets installed in the Google Home app?

It specifically states to download and install the Google Home App. (yes, I thought the same thing as well).

@Micmax

Google Nest's use of 2 apps is confusing (and we have just cameras, doorbells, and Nest Hubs). It seems worse for thermostats.

This help page also says to use the Google Nest app:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9274936?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccomplete-installation-instructio...

This page says "You can only use the Nest app to change settings for the Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat. To change settings for the Nest Thermostat, use the Home app."

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9244728?hl=en#zippy=%2Cthe-app

Once it's installed, I believe it will then be accessible in the Google Home app. This page says "You can control the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E with the Home app after you migrate your Nest Account to a Google Account."

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9249866?hl=en

I followed all the links that you provided. Installed the Nest App & used Google as my sign in. My display on the thermostat is still wanting me to "Continue Setup in the Google Home App" . So frustrating!!  My old Nest was dying (& easier to use) otherwise I wouldn't have bought this.

Still needing help!

I will give this a try and see if I can get it to show up on the thermostat.  Thanks!
