Control of boiler valve?

StepOne

Hi, I have an oil fired boiler with a motorised valve. The valve should allow me to turn off the radiators and just heat hot water. I don't know how to control the valve using my new Google Nest. As things stand I can control the heating/hot water but I can't control the valve to just heat the water. My electrian who installed the Nest says this is possible but he doesn't know enough about the app to tell me how it's done. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Are you UK with a Heat Link?

Many thanks. Yes, I'm in the uk, but what is a Heat Link. I suppose if I have to ask I probably don't.

Yes, sorry I do have a Heat Link and the motorised valve is connected.  Its close to the oil boiler.

OK, in that case just to confirm is the app set-up for Heating and Hot Water?

You  should have 2 icons, one should have a number or off on it, and the other looks like a water droplet.

Should that be correct, now open the water droplet icon settings at the top right, a cog wheel. Open that and confirm if the on/off is set to on.

You need it on

Hi, I didn’t have two icons for heating and hot water but I do now. So, hopefully if the valve is doing its thing I should now be able to control hot water separately from heating.

Many thanks and Merry Christmas.

Ah, you didn’t have the app configured as a system boiler in that case, I expect setup as a Combi.

Yes the water icon droplet is your H/W,

Turn you heating down to 9 degrees, and the press the water boost without the heating on a that will prove all good.
