1. In the last month or so, my thermostat is regularly losing wifi connectivity. A reset will sometimes recover it briefly. The problem is definitely the Nest, not a problem with my wireless router.
2. For some reason, the thermostat seems to be very regularly using "Aux Heat", even when the temperature outside is in the high 30s. My old standard thermometer would rarely use aux heat, generally when the temp outside was below 10 degrees. Does anyone know how/why the Nest chooses to use Aux heating which is much less efficient?
3. I have the temp set for 68 degrees. This morning when I got up, the Nest itself reported the indoor temp at 74 degrees and was still cranking the furnace (aux). I had to manually lower the temp really low until it shut off.
4. When there is no wifi connectivity, the thermostat will not respond to touch for around 30 seconds. That is lousy SW design.
I've had the Nest for a couple years. It seems to work great for cooling, but just blows when it comes to heating. According to my utility company, my system cools more efficiently than most homes in my area, but my electricity use for heating is much, much higher than others.
Note there was apparently a SW update here on 10/25, to 6.2-22, which I assume is buggy as hell.
Where can I get support for these issues? Is it possible to downgrade the SW? Is anyone else having these problems? (I know the wifi issues are happening to lots of people). I wonder if others are seeing these heating issues.
Does anyone have suggestions for other IoT thermostats that actually work correctly?
Thanks,
Chuck
