Daikin Multi Stage AC and Nest Wiring

ammcclu

Hello Nest Community,

I just got a Daikin system installed in my house and wanted to verify that the thermostat was wired correctly to take advantage of the 2 stage system. As a note, I live in FL.

Daikin System:

  • Heat Pump: DZ5SEA6010
  • Air Handler: AMST60DU1400

Current Wiring Shown on Nest:

  • Y1: heat/cool
  • Y2: shows grey wire no name
  • OB: heat pump
  • W2: aux. heat
  • C: 24v common
  • RH: power

Hi @ammcclu,

I'm sorry for the long time, Based on the information you provided, the wiring on your Nest thermostat seems mostly correct for your Daikin 2-stage heat pump system in Florida. Here's a breakdown:

  • Y1: Connected to the heat pump's cooling terminal (correct)
  • C: Connected to the common terminal (correct)
  • RH: Connected to the power terminal (correct)

However, there are a couple of points to consider:

  • Y2: The gray wire connected to Y2 on your Nest thermostat might not be necessary in your setup. In Florida, a 2-stage cooling system is less common.
  • OB: You mentioned this is wired to the "heat pump" terminal on your Nest. There's no "heat pump" terminal on the Nest. It likely should be connected to the O/B terminal on the Nest, which controls the balancing valve in a heat pump system.

If for some reason you have another concern don't hesitate to let me know.
