Discontinuing NEST - what is the reality ?

I have a total of 9 NEST thermostats in my house.

Please could someone explain in laypersons terms what we will still be able to do and what we won’t be  able to do?

we are UK based and it’s starting to turn cold and I’m worried that my investment in Nest, not even 10 years ago now is entirely wasted.

Like others, there was no indication when purchased that this would be (perhaps) obsolete in such a relatively short period of time.

1: Will our heating and hot water still work?

2: assume the nest app will stop (gutted), but is there another app that can control the heating etc, either from within the home or whilst away from home?

vey much appreciate some plain language explanations.

many thanks

The first answer to your question is, the thermostats will still work but you would not have remote access. You can operate them manually inside the home, but the app will cease.

However, having said that which model thermostat do you have, as this problem is aimed at the 1st/2nd Gen thermostats. Upload a picture of the thermostat if you do not know the model type.

What annoys me is that controlling the thermostat with the app is core functionality that was sold as a key feature (and as an inducement to buy) the product in the first place. I understand not supporting updates, like old versions of operating systems, but why disable the app altogether? My Gen 1 is working perfectly. Very angry about this. Once again, built in obsolescence with new models being forced on customers who don’t need them. Last time I will buy a Google product.
