Does Nest take into account that the furnace uses a 4" air filter and staging for filter reminders?

We have a new 2 stage heat pump and new furnace that has a 4" filter instead of the standard 1" filter. After only one month of use, Nest reminded me to change the filter.

I know the system is running a lot more often than our old system for efficiency purposes, but does Nest take into account that a 4" filter shouldn't need to be changed as often as a 1" filter? 4" filters are much more expensive than 1" and our HVAC company gave us the impression that we may make it 6 months between changes. I had hoped at least 3 months before having to change again.

Thanks!

Hey there Tiffany Smith 7711,
I'm sorry for the late response, but I wanted to hop in here to help. I understand wanting to know if the Nest device can use a 4" air filter or not, I'm happy to look into this.

I was able to find an article about air filters that are compatible with the Nest Thermostat system.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
