Does Presence Sensing work if I have a set schedule?

Brandfluke

I just got a Nest Thermostat. I set a weekly schedule for it which works great. But I decided since my wife and I have pretty irregular schedules, I wanted to rely moreso on Presence Sensing.

Up until now, Presence Sensing was also on, but it seemed to be not really doing anything since I had a schedule set.

To really use Presence Sensing, do I need to remove all heating/cooling schedules? If not, how do they work together if I have both settings activated?

Hi Brandfluke,

Thanks for reaching out. Your devices use presence sensing to start either your Home Routine or Away Routine. You need to set those routines first for your presence sensing to work. You can click on this link to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward

Thanks for following up. I have presence sensing working. But what happens when I have a schedule set and presence sensing on? Does one override the other?

Hi Brandfluke,

Thanks for the response. If your Nest Thermostat is set to Away, it goes to Eco mode and won't follow the schedule until your Nest Thermostat go back to Home mode.

Thanks,

Edward
