Does not recognize Rh connection to system

After years of successful use, Nest no longer recognizes power from Rh wire.  It sees that the Rh wire is seated.  The Rc wire is recognized as connected to the system.  Is the battery faulty?  It work fine and then suddenly stopped after years of use.    When the power runs down, I have no heat in the house.  I have to disconnect and do a USB charge.

I've recently been having the same issue, except now even after 2 full days of usb charging, the thermostat still shows the same error message and the heat will not turn on. We have run through all of the troubleshooting steps multiple times, charge via usb, then reconnect and it says "no power for Rh" and shuts down to "charge"--except there's a blinking green light constantly which supposedly means that it's fully charged.
