Can someone please explain clearly what the Eco Temps feature is for? I’ve read everything and can’t understand at all what they are talking about. Also, how would they know if no one’s home? Not every Google account in the house is linked to the Nest. I’m so confused!

Hello PauliePA,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I understand it can be confusing, but I'd love to help.
Aside from energy savings,Your Eco Temperature is the temperature your Nest will set your house to when no one is home. Regardless of whether someone is at home, the thermostat will stick to "away" status and maintain the temperature set. But when any of your home members tries to control it manually or if the thermostat detects someone who passes by or approaches it, the thermostat will manually switch to "home" status and ignore all the scheduled temperatures until you manually switch to another mode.
Also, if you have a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E, you’ll need to set up Home/Away Assist to enable automatic switching. Let us know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Mark
