Everything was fine until heating company installed auxiliary blower

Hello one and all.

Have a Nest Thermostat E and it was working perfectly for months.  Then the heating company had to install an auxiliary blower on furnace to bring their installation up to code and ever since then the blower that they installed runs 24/7.  I put my old dumb thermostat back in place and everything works fine.  It calls for heat and the furnace comes on and so does the blower.  Thermostat (the dumb one) says heat is off, furnace and blower turn off.  I did get the Nest Power Connector and installed it on the off chance that it might have been the issue (never had it before and it worked fine prior to the blower installation) but no change.   I'd really like to get the Nest Thermostat E back in place, but I can't have this silly vent blower running 24/7.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I think it's something simple but I don't know.

Hi ForbSchlorbNorb,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,

Edward

Thanks Edward.  It's still not working correctly.  When the heating company was here installing the blower, they spent days trying to figure it out and nothing.  But there has to be an answer.  The Nest E has to be doing something the basic thermostat doesn't do.  That's why I tried the Nest Power Connector thing since the basic thermostat has batteries and the Nest E does that vampire thing where it sucks the power from one of the wires and I thought maybe that was triggering the blower.  But that wasn't it.  I'd really like to get the Nest E working again.  The round glowy thermostat is just so cheery.

Hello Edward.  I think I filled out the form.  It was pretty much just a repeat of what I started with in the initial posting.  Not sure if it was needing more information.

I have not forgotten about your suggestion.  I just can't figure out what to do

I clicked on the troubleshoot heating/cooling behavior and get to this page.

1. Find the right troubleshooting steps

  • Your system is acting strangely: If you see one of the issues listed below without seeing an error code on your Nest thermostat, continue to step 2 to troubleshoot.
    • Your system is making strange noises: chattering, stuttering, clicking or thumping ‒ this can be caused by your system turning on and off rapidly
    • Heating or cooling is always on, and won’t turn off
    • Heating or cooling repeatedly turns on and off in a short period
    • You see a Delayed or Starts in message on your Nest thermostat’s screen (for example: “Heating is delayed for 2:30 mins”)
    • The system fan is always running or won’t turn on
    • The system fan turns on and off repeatedly in a short period

That seems to be my issue (specifically the second to last choice), but I don't see Step 2.  Unless I'm just looking in the wrong area.

Hey there,

Sorry for the delayed reply. Step 2 in the article would be to check your energy history. Do you mind me asking if you are also in contact with our team via email after filling out the form? They would be able to help further troubleshoot the issue, and ensure everything is good to go.
