  • My existing thermostat has an X2 and a T wire, in addition to a R, O, G, Y, B, and W. Any assistance you could provide to a first generation Nest thermostat would be appreciated as to connection of the wires.

Hi Mpropst1,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you need help connecting the wires. I'm happy to assist you with this!

Could you please send me pictures of your wire labels and the control board of your HVAC system?

I have a question: Are you trying to connect a Google Nest Thermostat 1st Generation?

I'll be awaiting your response.

Regards,
Manuel

Hi Manuel,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am planning on connecting with a Nest thermostat 1st Generation that I purchased a few years ago and never used.

I have attached a photo of the existing thermostat’s wiring. If you are able to help, that would be great.

Thanks,
Marty

Hi Mpropst1,

Thanks for sending the picture. I recommend you contact your personal tech or a Nest Pro to install the Google Nest Learning Thermostat 1st Gen to identify what the X2 and T wires are for.

If you prefer, contact a Nest Pro.

Regards,
Manuel
