Is there a way to delay my fan from coming on right as the condensing unit comes on? The fan blows the hot air that has collected from the surrounding attic into the house before the coil gets cold. So, I want to delay the fan and allow the coil to get cold, and then bring on the fan.

Yes, you can delay your fan by adjusting your HVAC system or thermostat settings. Some thermostats, including smart ones like the Nest, have a setting for fan delay, allowing the fan to turn on a few seconds after the compressor starts, giving the coil time to cool down. If your thermostat doesn't have this option, you can install a fan delay relay in the HVAC system, automatically delaying the fan to avoid blowing warm air into the house. Consult your system's manual or an HVAC technician for guidance on implementing this.

Hi @rjoelshipp,
Thank you for posting in the community! I'd be happy to help with your concerns about the fan delay feature.
I also appreciate your input, @jack5253.
The availability of the fan delay feature depends on your HVAC system's capabilities. Many cooling systems require the fan to be running to initiate cooling. If your system doesn't currently have a fan delay feature, I'd recommend consulting with a local HVAC professional. They can assess your system and determine if an upgrade or installation is feasible.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Jenniffer
