Fan running during heat mode

I have a Nest ver3 learning thermostat.  I Have baseboard hot water heat. I don't want the air conditioning fan to work in heat mode but I can't figure out how to turn it off. when I go to settings, fans schedule, i choose disable to shut the fan off, but I have to do that each and every time it goes on. How do I keep the fan off in heat mode? But make sure it runs in air conditioning mode?

Thank you for your help.

Hi JerryPap,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm sorry to hear that your fan is turning on when you set it off whenever heating mode is active.

Have you tried restarting your Nest Learning Thermostat? The setting might have been updated in the app, but the thermostat itself may need a refresh to reflect the change.

Please try restarting it and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Best regards,
Axel.

Hi AxelD,
First let me thank you for responding to my problem. Since I didn't know how to turn off the thermostat it forced me to go through all the settings. It turned out when I got to equipment, it showed my heat setting to be "Electric Forced hot air: which I'm
sure would require the fan to be on with the heat. Once I reset it to Gas and Radiant floor board, that solved the problem.
I should explain that I had gone through the Nest app to hire an expert from OnTech to install the thermostat ($170.00) as there were lots of wires from an old 3M  Radio Thermostat i had installed 20 years ago. Since the AC was an add-on 20 years ago, there were two sets of wires.  He did a good job of tracing the wires and eliminating those I didn't need from the AC in the attic and the heat in the basement. He just didn't set my heat source.

Back in the 1970's I taught Mechanical Drawing with an Apple 2E and an Apple tablet. At 83 years old, I am amazed at how far technology has come thus far.

So, once again thank you for your help.

PS. How do you turn off the Nest Thermostat?

Hi JerryPap,

Thanks for replying and It’s my pleasure to help you! It’s good to hear that changing the heating source fixed the situation. Regarding your question, the Nest Learning Thermostat offers five available modes: Heat, Cool, Heat/Cool, Off, and Eco. You can set it to Off, which will turn off all heating and cooling functions. However, the thermostat itself cannot be completely turned off. If you need to completely disconnect the thermostat, you can remove the display from its base.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Axel.
