Fan won’t turn on with AC compressor

My fan runs with the heat, but will not run with cooling. The air compressor is on and I hear it. But the indoor fan won’t turn on. Please help!

What type HVAC system? 

In air conditioning mode, it is the thermostat that must activate the blower fan.  It does this by energizing the G wire whenever it energizes the Y wire. The blower fan in a gas furnace is controlled by the air handler control itself.
