Fireplace Control with Nest 3rd Gen

The original thermostat that died had two wires.  One to Rh and one to W.  However there was a small wire connecting Rh and Rc.  I would like to replace it with a Nest 3rd Gen.  Any ideas how I can make this work.  Do I need a transformer?  If this is the case how would this get wired?

Figured it out.  It works with a 24V transformer.  Original wires to Rh and W.  transformer wires: one to Rc and one to C.  Works!
