Frequent battery replacement

Model GA01334-US

I've had to replace the alkaline batteries 2x since January's install.  Is this normal? Or is it faulty?  This model does not have rechargeable batteries.

How is it wired?

Can you post a picture of the original thermostat wiring and another of how the Nest is wired?
