There has been a handful of conversations on this, but no one has address that a 300.00 thermostat needs replaced in 10 years because the battery is dead.
A 10-year-old thermostat is well past its expected lifespan. Batteries have a limited number of charge/discharge cycles. Expecting the battery to last forever is unrealistic.
