I have an older gen 2 nest thermostat; I am having issues as of this week with the unit heating up.
I have enjoyed using this unit for over 5 yrs and no issues at all. suddenly the wall unit heats up due to some wiring.
Again, not issues and not removed the cover at all until these issues occurred. Now I am being told I have to purchase a newer unit because the software appears out of date.
Please tell me you are not requiring me to buy another unit because you updated your software, and my older unit is not working with it.

Hi jim9878,
Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your 2nd gen Nest Thermostat is overheating. That's definitely concerning, and we'll work to resolve this as quickly as possible.
To help me understand the situation better, could you please provide the following information?
What specific model of Nest Thermostat do you have?
What is the brand and model of your HVAC/heat pump system?
When did you first notice the thermostat overheating?
Is the overheating a continuous problem, or does it happen under specific circumstances (e.g., only when heating is running, after a certain amount of time, etc.)?
Have there been any recent changes or maintenance to your HVAC system?
Have you experienced any recent power outages or electrical issues in your home?
Could you please provide photos of your HVAC/heat pump system and the wiring at your thermostat?
I look forward to your response so we can get this resolved.
Regards,
Kevin
