Gen 3 thermostat turned off & won't turn on

Hi, My Gen 3 thermostat turned off & won't turn on. I've connected to a charger via USB but it doesn't blink to let me know it's charging. It simply has a white screen saying please attach the display to its base. And when I do attach it to the base without the cable of course, the screen goes blank and a green light blinks. I'm not sure what else to do.
