Recently purchase a Nest 4th Gen and have been struggling the last few days to install. I have a ground source heat pump, no emergency heat. I’ve followed the instructions multiple times, factory reset, and tried even setting up as a dual fuel and still won’t turn on the compressor on the unit, only activates the fan. I have a R, G, C, Y1, W2, O/B, and L. With the install I abandoned the L as it says it’s not necessary. I checked the compartment on the geo unit itself and matched up letters and colors of the wires and all is correct. I just can’t get it to heat. I’ve also tried factory resets and switching to emergency heat, making unit use alt. Heat. It turns the unit on low fan for about 30 seconds, and then the thermostat shuts down the unit and triggers the 3 minute hold over for the equipment. I love my google that I had in my old house, I’m about ready to just return this though…… and I’m bummed about it.

Also called the google support and they checked all the settings, said everything is fine and I should call an HVAC tech. But once I wire up the old thermostat again it works just fine and as it should.
