Nest 3rd gen thermostat worked fine for a couple of months then lost wi-fi connection. Nest app not connecting either. Performed all recommended troubleshooting but still not working as it should. Phoned Google and the upshot is they're sending me another one. Big problem is, although my one is still under warranty Google's policy is to send a refurbished replacement. Despite pleading that this is disgraceful policy and I should have a brand new replacement Google won't budge on this issue. Shocking and appalling behaviour. Wish I'd gone for Hive!

@Seablue , it is quite common for manufacturing companies of electronic equipment to send factory certified refurbished equipment as a replacement for a failed unit covered under warranty. You should fear not because most cases when companies do this your warranty continues further natural term of your original product. Now there are some companies that because products are new they don’t have any additional units that have been factory recertified so they do and they and they will send you a new product from inventory. It’s very wrong for person to assume that they get a brand new unit for a warranty replacement. There’s nothing in a contract law there’s nothing in common law that makes that to be the case. How a company chooses to supply its warranty. Replacement product is 100% the responsibility the company and not the individual who purchased it
