We had our Nest updated to the 4th generation nest when we recently got a new AC installed. The guy that installed told me we were all set and showed me the little round sensor to put in another part of the hours. He barely spoke English but he acted like it was all set up.
(1) So does the Nest automatically sense that sensor with the temperature I have set or do I need to set something else to use the sensor? It only shows Family Room . I'm thinking he did not set it up.
(2) Is there a tutorial or something I can watch as to how to set up the Nest on Google Home so that the temp stays the same and it doesn't keep changing on its own. I don't want it set with our iphones. I'd like to be able to click on the Away button when we are away and then the Home button for when we go on vacation.
I want to be able to use this to its fullest since we paid a lot of money for it, but I seem to to going in circles. Thanks to anyone who can provide information.

Silly question - How can I tell if the sensor is installed? I am just assuming the tech set this up, but you know what happens when you assume. When I am in Google Home and click on the "Home" button at the top left it then shows two different Home buttons.
The first button "Home" shows Home and Away under it -- I am guessing that maybe this is the main thermostat?
When I click on the second "Home" button it has a picture of a lady at a computer and says "add your favorite devices and actions for quick access." When I click on Action it has a box for Assistant and one for Broadcast? I was thinking maybe that was where the sensor was supposed to be loaded, but I guess not.
And when I click on "Devices" it only shows the Family Room where the sensor is located.
Bottomline - how do I tell if my sensor is located?

It sounds like you have two different homes in the app. You want the first one that shows devices in it. When you tap the Devices tab you'll see a list of rooms and the devices in each room.
If the sensor is setup you should see it listed here, named whatever the sensor was named during setup. The icon on it looks like this (O) shown below.
If you can't find it, try the setup steps:
