Google Nest T-stat heat not working

dpm1968

I installed this new thermostat a few months ago, the a/c part works great.  Today I tried out the heater and the a/c unit turned on; no heat.  My old thermostat was an older nest and I wired it the same, but for arguements sake here is the wiring diagram connected right now:  Yellow is yellow, common is blue, white is white, green is green, red is red, and *OB is orange.  We have electric for the a/c, and gas for the heater.  Help!

Hi @dpm1968!

Thanks for posting in the community.

I’m sorry for the inconveniences that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest thermostat. I understand that you just installed the thermostat recently and the A/C unit is turning on and working well, but when you are trying to activate the heating, it is not turning on the heating unit. Let me help you with this.

To assist you with the best solution, I would like to get a bit more information:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Are there any error messages? If so, what are they exactly?
  • Did you turn the HVAC system off?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Do you have a common ground wire or C wire?
  • Do you have any pictures of the previous and the new wiring?
  • Did you select the correct fuel type?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

I’ll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Daniel.
