I'm new to the Nest thermostat. It was already installed when I moved in. I reset the system back to factory settings, got rid of all the preset schedules & turned everything off. What I've noticed is when the cooling system kicks on (set at 68°), it initially blows warm air until the house temp reads 71° on the screen & then the air turns cool. I've looked at the wiring diagram & it's all correct. I read that if the heat pump wire is O change it to B & vice versa. My wiring diagram shows OB*. No idea if that's the issue so I'm at a loss. Can anyone help with this? Seems very counter productive for my cooling system to hear the house up a few degrees before finally cooling to the set temp

@jlowe122169 , what model of Nest Thermostat are you using? If you have a wire attached to the *OB then you definitely have a heat pump system. If you say the system does not blow any cool air at first, however after the temperature rises a few degrees then you feel cold air coming out of the vents. There should be no reason to have performed a factory reset. Please upload a picture of the Nest backplate showing the attached wires. Have you put the Nest App on your phone and linked the Nest Thermostat to your Nest Account?

Thank you for the response! I am out of town until tomorrow afternoon. I will definitely send a pic of the wire configuration then. This was existing when I moved in & I did the factory reset per my landlord to get rid of the previous tenants settings. I do have the Google home app & I believe this Nest is the 2020 Nest but I'll include a pic of that as well. I'll get you the pics & info Saturday afternoon

So, doesn't appear I can attach or upload images. Not sure what's going on. I do in fact have a heat pump, my wire configuration is
Y- C- W- G- R- OB*
Model Nest I have is Google Nest Thermostat software version 1.3-10. I can't upload any images for some reason. Sorry!

Thanks for the help but I had the Nest removed & put in a regular thermostat. No issues since
