I've been using three nest thermostats in my house for a decade now and for the very first time my AC shut off when it got hot the other night and when I went to the thermostat it had me locked out and had raised the temperature telling me it was a peak time and I wasn't allowed to use my AC just by having never ever ever ever signed up for any of these programs where they can control it remotely.
Because of all the cash and the free thermostat that give you if you're willing to pay for this you get rebates and a bunch of free stuff so I guess next now is just stealing it instead of asking you if you want to sign up for it they just turn off your entire f****** unit. Or in my case all three units.
This has class action lawsuit written all over it. Who knows how much they're collecting from my utility provider for shutting off my AC and not reimbursing me anything

You could try contacting Support to see if they'll resolve the problem:
1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Select your device from the dropdown, click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

I just had this over the weekend with 2 thermostats. It took awhile to find it. In the app, go to Settings > Nest Renew. It will take you to the website. It will look like you aren't signed up. Sign in with your Google account. Opt out of Seasonal Savings. Remove your home account from Nest Renew after you have opted out. It worked for me. I hope this helps you as all.
