Thermostat is complaining it can't connect to heat link and control boiler. This has happened intermittently before and fix is to get it to try again via the thermostat. This time I am away from home - is there any way of getting the thermostat to return the connection remotely?

Hi Xenopodus,
Thank you for posting in the community! I understand that your Nest Thermostat cannot connect to the heat link and the control boiler. Sometimes before you fixed the H71 error code from the thermostat; however, this time you’re not at home and want to remotely correct the error. I’m here to investigate and address your concern.
The error code points to a wireless interference caused by another device or a near neighbor network as a possible reason for the connection interruption.
To be able to evaluate some options to remotely cancel the interference, I need some more information:
I look forward to this important information to further assist you.

Humberto

Hi Humberto, thanks for replying. The thermostat is a 3rd gen. It reports "Display-3.7" as the model.
I understand that the dropouts may be caused by interference but they are infrequent so I am happy just getting the thermostat to retry. One day I may go through the pain of isolating the cause but not today
My question was - can I get the thermostat to retry or restart remotely?
It probably doesn't matter anymore because I checked today and it is working again so perhaps there is some automatic retry after a period?

Hi Xenopodus,
Thank you for sharing the good news! I’m glad to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) and Heat Link/Control boiler system are working as they should.
I also appreciate the restating of your initial question. I apologize for not directly answering it before; my information request was oriented to determine if the interference source could be remotely turned off to ease the communication, or if someone could be at home to turn off the wireless devices and/or to restart the Heat Link.
The answer to your question is that someone must be able to restart the Heat Link or the thermostat to erase the help code. At the moment, there’s no automatic or remote restart available for your thermostat.
Because the issue resolved itself, we can only assume that the interfering signal disappeared, and the system's attempts to communicate worked out and resolved the issue.
I suggest checking at your convenience the possible reasons for the occasional interference as a solution/prevention of the situation reappearing.
For any additional assistance, don’t hesitate to contact me. Assisting you is my pleasure, Dave.
Regards,
Humberto
