Has Anyone in the UK received details of the supposed goodwill gesture for the retirement of Gen 1/2

Dear All, 

Like many of you, my smart Thermoststs became dumb overnight recently, not going to go into how I feel about this here because I am sure that we all feel the same.

However, from what I have read, Google were supposed to be offering UK users a goodwill gesture towards Tado replacements but I have received zero proactive communication on this and have not been able to secure a response from support as yet either.

I have three stats in my house, 2x Gen 2 and 1x Gen 3 so moving over to Tado is not ideal as it will mean abandoning the Gen 3 for no good reason or living with two control systems until Google decide no retire the gen 3 products as well.  

What have others heard/been told and what have you been offered?

I don't really have a problem with the sub, plenty of other smart devices require one, maybe if Google had adopted this approach they would have continued to support their legacy products due to the secure income stream, but clearly they are making no money from supporting one-time purchased products indefinitely.

It's more an indication of the practice that 1) they intended to do this to those that had already purchased this functionality and 2) it was actually just a test to see if they could get away with charging people a sub for functionality they had already paid for and farming details. Pretty predatory practices...

Oh and most subs devices are sold AS subs devices. If people are ok buying HD2 which only works with online sub only then then that's what they bought and if they ok with that i don't have a prob, they know what they were purchasing. but I'm not paying for a game that will be unplayable soon as they decide to turn of the server, live service games should be sub only or free entry. It's changing the rules after purchase that i have a problem with.
