Heating for 30 mins

TC

Hi there, does anyone know if it's possible to turn the heating on with Nest for only 30 mins.  In the schedule it seems that I have to set it for a minimum of an hour, which is longer than I need and so costing me money unnecessarily.

It would also be useful to have a boost function for the heating like there is for the hot water.  I used to be able to set my heating for a boost with Tado (that I had before) from anything from 1 minute to several hours and even my ancient boiler allowed me to do that before I upgraded my system.

Any thoughts or tips appreciated.  Thanks 🙂

Thanks Jake. Yes, it would be great if you can help.  I still haven’t managed to turn my heating on for a shorter period than 1 hour.  I’d love to be able to put it on for just 15 or 30 minutes.  I also haven’t found a boost function for the heating, only for the hot water.

Any help appreciated, especially given the rising cost of heating.

Hey TC,

Glad to help you out and answer this for you. Adjacent temperatures in your thermostat’s schedule must be at least 60 minutes apart, and this is why you are having trouble finding a shorter time. I did find a helpful article that provides more details on that. You can read more about that here. Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any other questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake

Thanks Jake.  Yes, it sadly means that Google Nest doesn’t have this basic functionality, I hope they will consider upgrading to this.  Tado and Honeywell have this and unfortunately moving to nest now means that my heating had to be on for longer.  Will have to manually override for now.  A lesson to research more and not automatically think that it would be better ir as good as the competitors.  Appreciate you following up.   Thanks 😊
