Heating only coming on when hot water on

Hi; our nest is 3 yrs old and until now worked fine but the heating will not come on despite dial turning and saying it’s heating- however heating will come on when hot water switched on!

Tried rebooting internet and resetting the thermostat with no luck ; can anyone help please.?

Do you have a boiler for heat with radiators or baseboard hot water heating?

And is your hot water for faucets heated by the boiler that also heats the radiators?
