Heating set to 66 but Nest keeps blasting heat

I have a two story house and the Nest is upstairs. I have it set to 66 but the dial is showing 79. While it was unnecessarily blasting the heat, it was never orange. I tapped the downstairs (regular old school) thermostat down a couple degrees and that seemed to stop the upstairs from blasting. It’s much cooler down stairs , but it’s hot upstairs and we’re supposed to be conserving energy right now! (Extreme cold in Texas) thanks for any help

Hi Efrab321,

Thanks for reaching out — I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I'd like to know more about it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? What is your current outside temperature? Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat screen or in the app? Checking your thermostat's Energy History will tell you what your thermostat is doing previously. Also, gather and share with us your thermostat's power reading.

Check out the guide below:

Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Nest Thermostat 2020:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Select the Device Information.
  3. Choose Technical Information.

Best,

Jenelyn
