Help with understanding if wiring is compatible with Nest

Hello Everyone.

I've got an older heating system, so I'm not sure if I can install a Nest Thermostat. Can anyone give me guidance as to whether my wiring is compatible? Thanks!

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. Taking a closer look at the picture, I am showing a yellow, and a green wire not connected to your device currently. Do you happen to know if these are connected to your control board? Nest Thermostats are not compatible with loose wires, and you may need to ensure these are connected. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Hi Jake. I took a look at my furnace and the yellow and green wires are not connected to anything on that side either. Only the red and white wires are connected to the control board. Does that mean my system is compatible?

Hey there,

Thank you so much for double-checking that for me. Do you happen to know if you have a millivolt system? Do you have an older gas furnace built into the wall or the floor? If not, using our compatibility checker, I am showing that you are compatible with both the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E. Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake
