I am upset how the thermostat discontinuance is being handled. Being a Snowbird I use the nest for monitoring and control. This date leaves me a couple months shy of being able to install a new thermostat because I don’t return to my second home before the end date is hit. Not leaving the old app alive for a bit longer or the final date further out for those like myself is cold. The upgrade jester is nice but doesn’t really cut it in this regard.

I guess the good news is that there are plenty of other players in the wi-fi thermostat market now.  Google's course of action is criminal. I will absolutely never buy another Nest product in my life.

They're screwing their most loyal customers.  Google ruins everything it touches.

Google are scum. To sh1t on there customers like this is an unbelievable outrage. I don’t care tgat they are ceasing FW updates, I get that but to switch off the remote app control is unbelievable. That is literally the only reason I bought the thing in the first place.
