I have two nest thermostats. One controls heat and one controls AC. The thermostat controlling heat has no issues.
the thermostat controlling AC would not originally follow the schedule that I programmed using the google app. I called support and they said I needed a C wire, which I added to no avail. Finally in desperation I turned all the smart features off including nest renew and it has followed the schedule as of this morning.
why nest renew would prevent the schedule raising the AC temp and saving energy is beyond me.
anyway, now the hold temp feature will not work on the AC thermostat. I’ve tried through the app and on the thermostat itself. I’m trying to have the Eco temp held indefinitely but the thermostat does not comply and remains at the current setting.
I replaced two original nest learning thermostats that had worked for years with the Nest 2020s perhaps that was my big mistake.
has anyone had similar issues with scheduling and hold temps and know how to resolve?

Hi Melany,
thanks for the pointers. I had already tried all of that but I did resolve the issue. Basically I tuned off Nest Renew and had to factory reset the thermostat to get everything working as needed.
there seems to be an issue with Nest Renew, perhaps exacerbated by the fact that I have separate thermostats for heat and cool. It’s got good intentions but in my case was costing me more money.
