Hold Temp really limited to 24 hours?

My vacation home is in AZ and, as we leave for the summer, I wanted to hold the AC temp to 88 degrees fahrenheit.  Seems easy enough and that it is a popular need.  Is it really true that I can only indefinitely hold the temp in ECO mode, which for me is 78 degrees?  Surely I am reading this wrong.

Hi @Tbill,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you'd like to keep your Arizona vacation home at a specific temperature while you're away. That's a great way to ensure a comfortable return!

While some thermostats limit temperatures in Eco mode, there might be a simpler solution depending on your specific model. To help you out, can you tell me the brand and model of your thermostat?

With that information, I can guide you through the specific steps to adjust the settings and avoid Eco or Away modes if needed. In some cases, a factory reset might be necessary, but let's see if we can find a way to achieve your desired temperature without that step.

Regards,

Jorge

I have the current Google Nest.  I just installed it about 30 days ago.

Seems like there are multiple models.  I believe this is KWVFPG.  At least that is what is on the back of the unit

Hello @Tbill,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I appreciate your answer. Thanks for your effort. In this case, most thermostats, including Nest thermostats, will work to maintain the temperature you set in any mode (heat, cool, or eco) until you adjust it again or a programmed schedule takes effect. So, you don't need to worry about a 24-hour limit on holding a temperature. Just keep in mind that Eco mode might have a slightly different temperature range compared to your heating or cooling settings. This range is set during the initial setup process and can be adjusted later if needed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

Regards,

Jorge.

It would appear that, although you can't "hold" a certain temperature you can adjust the temperature associated with Eco mode,  I was able to adjust the Eco mode number from the stock 78 to 90º which solved my problem

Hello @Tbill,

Thanks for posting in the community.

That's fantastic news! I'm glad you were able to adjust the Eco mode temperature on your Google Nest thermostat to 90°F and resolve the issue. I appreciate you sharing your solution!

You're right; Nest thermostats don't offer a "hold" function to maintain a specific temperature indefinitely. However, Eco Mode allows you to set energy-saving temperature ranges for times when you're away or asleep. It's great that adjusting this range to your preference helped achieve the desired temperature.

I'm happy to help if you have any further questions about Eco Mode or other Nest thermostat features.

Thanks again for sharing your solution!

Regards,

Jorge
