Home/Away by device connection instead of location

I’ve reached the end of my patience with Nest Home/Away assist and the Google Home app’s presence sensing. Neither works consistently, eliminating a large functionality of having a “smart” thermostat. I have Google Fiber and a TP-Link Deco M9 mesh system that has smart functions. Is there a way to use whether phones are connected to the WiFi for Home/Away assist instead of location? I’d need this to work for multiple phones, like “set to away if neither phone is connected.” It just seems like a more reliable system instead of using GPS.

Sorry to hear about your experience and also for the delayed response. 

I'm afraid that the Home Away Assist feature of our Nest devices uses only the location settings of the mobile phone connected to it but we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to our team.
