Home and Nest Apps Show Set NOT Current Temp

Dingledooodie
Community Member

When I open my Google Home or Nest app, the large number shown in the centre of the dial is the set temperature with the current temp taking a back seat in teeny digits elsewhere (see attached pics).

I'm pretty sure from a simple Google search that what I, and many others, WANT to see in the big central spot is the current temperature. That makes the most sense right?

I've seen posts going back YEARS asking about this and there STILL seems to be NO option to choose or change this option. (Unless I'm missing something glaringly simple somewhere???)

Silly.

Please fix.

??? ??? ??? ???

Hello Dingledooodie,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I understand that the thermostat display information in the Google Home app and the Nest app is confusing, but I'd be happy to elaborate on it as clearly as possible.

I agree that the large number in the center of the screen is the target temperature, and the small number right above the set temperature is the rounded temperature in the app and on the display with 5-degree augmentation. But changing the temperature screen to the current temperature option is not available. At all events, showing the set temperature in the app can easily identify if the system is actively running and allows users to easily adjust the temperature manually. You'll find the current temperature labeled Indoor in the Google Home app and the temperature degree right next to the thermostat room placement.

Let me know if you have more questions in mind.

Regards,
Mark

You've either utterly misunderstood my post or simply not read it properly.

I know everything you said in your reply coz I've read several posts like mine and the responses.

I didn't ask any questions, and don't have any new ones. I KNOW exactly where the current temp is in both the Google Home app and the Nest app. WHERE it is was the point of my post!!! I even included screenshots of both apps in my OP.  My point was that a lot of users want it central in the dial, (as it is on the actual thermostat).

My post was a statement of feedback, or a complaint, if you will, about something MANY Learning Thermostat users have brought up over the years and which seems to get blatantly ignored.

I complained it was silly that the set temp takes centre stage in the apps and asked for the issue to be addressed and fixed. I didn't ask for instructions on where to find something that I'd already mentioned and shown screenshots of!

Please read messages thoroughly before responding.

Hi there,

I apologize for any confusion, and I understand your point about viewing the current temperature via the Nest app, Google Home app, or even the Nest Web app. We value our customers input, and I'll bet other users would love to have this current temperature display too. But changing the temperature screen isn't available yet.

With this, please let our product team know about it by sending feedback to have this function available in the future.

Thanks,
Mark
