Home app thermostat activity

Is there anyway to limit or remove the activity the Nest thermostat reports in the Google Home app Activity tab?

Ever since adding the Nest thermostats in my Home app they are sending so many notifications that my other devices like cameras, etc. are getting buried in Activity and I have to scroll through all the thermostat activity to find them, see below an example of this.

Hi DennyL,

Thanks for posting. The Google Home app does not provide a specific option to limit or remove the activity reported by Nest Thermostats in the Activity tab. The Activity tab in the Google Home app is designed to provide a comprehensive view of all the activities and events occurring across your connected smart devices, including thermostats. However, you may have some control over the notifications generated by the Nest Thermostats themselves.

Within the Nest app or through the Google Home app, you can review and modify the notification settings for your Nest Thermostats. Look for options to customize the types of notifications you receive, such as temperature changes or system alerts. By fine-tuning these settings, you might be able to reduce the frequency of notifications. Depending on the specific capabilities of your device or operating system, you may have the option to mute or silence notifications from the Google Home app temporarily. This can help you temporarily reduce the impact of thermostat notifications while you focus on other devices or activities. Check the notification settings on your device to see if this is a possibility. Some devices, like cameras, may have their own dedicated apps or settings that allow you to receive notifications directly from those apps rather than relying solely on the Google Home app. By configuring device-specific notifications, you can ensure that important events from other devices are not buried in the Nest Thermostat activity.

Let us know if that helps.

zoeuvre,

Thanx for responding.

The new Google Nest thermostat does not use the Nest app, it uses and is only compatible with the Google Home app afaict, only the Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat use the Nest app.

Look for options to customize the types of notifications you receive, such as temperature changes or system alerts.

The Google Home app has no means to control the thermostat notifications other than to get an 'Air filter reminder' - unless I've overlooked them somewhere in there. If you know of any settings within the Google Home app please point me to them.

Depending on the specific capabilities of your device or operating system, you may have the option to mute or silence notifications from the Google Home app temporarily.

'device or operating system'? The device is the Nest thermostat and the operating system is "Nest OS" based on a stripped-down version of Android and Linux 2.6.37, afaict.

By configuring device-specific notifications, you can ensure that important events from other devices are not buried in the Nest Thermostat activity.

I don't have the means to 'configure' the device or OS.

I have sent feedback about this in the Home app so I guess we'll have to see if enough others are reporting  the same issue and the devs think it's important enough to do something about it.
