Hello All

I have a Honeywell pro 2000 series and a trane gas powered furnace.

I just see 2 wires on my Honeywell.

One goes to R and the other goes to W.

I am trying to move to Nest 4th Gen. Which corresponding slot should I use on Google nest

Thanks in advance

Hi, @Rinyogi03!

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're trying to install wiring from your old thermostat to a 4th-generation Nest Learning Thermostat. I'm happy to help!

The wiring configuration for the Nest Thermostat should be as follows:

  • The wire labeled as R goes in Rh in the Nest thermostat.
  • The wire labeled as W goes in W1 in the Nest thermostat.

Please note that some systems may require a C-wire or a Nest Power Connector. Nest thermostats are designed to use minimal power and can often draw sufficient power from your system's heating and cooling wires. However, a common wire (C-wire) or a power accessory like the Nest Power Connector may be necessary for compatibility in some cases.

C-wire doesn't control heating or cooling; it provides constant power to the thermostat.

During setup, the Google Home app will often notify you if a C-wire is required for your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen).

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
