Hot water schedule not working, even though enabled and boost works

Hi, our hot water schedule has suddenly stopped working. I have verified that the setting on the Nest control unit/display for hot water schedule is set to 'enabled' already. The boost option works fine from the app, so we are having to use this for hot water.

I can confirm the hote water is not coming on as per the schedule as my smart metre tracks my gas usage, and I can see it's not firing up during the hours I expect the hot water to come on - and the water is then cold.

We have a Veissmann system boiler and separate hot water cylinder. Nest is a 3rd generation, model 3.7 and software version is 5.9.5-2.

Heatlink model is Amber-2.5. software version is 2.1.2-1. Something I also noticed bout the Heatlink is that it is unbranded (doesn't have 'Nest' written on the central button) and visually looks like the 2nd gen Heatlink - it only has one light indicator, not 3 separate lights, which I understand to be the design of the 3rd gen Heatlink. So it seems we have a 3rd gen Nest display but a 2nd gen Heatlink - no idea if this is related or correct? We bought the Nest 3rd gen new a few months ago, so I would assume all of the items included should have been 3rd gen?

Just to note, the hot water schedule used to work fine. It has also stopped working before and then suddenly started working again, but I have no idea why it stops or starts working. It is definitely enabled on the display settings and in the app.

Thank you for all the information @harriet-king . I would be happy to try and assist.

Newer units of the 3rd Generation may not have anything written in the center. You can press the button in the middle to engage the manual mode. If it is a 3rd gen Heat Link, 2 additional green LED symbols should turn on and the system should be active. Press again to turn it off.

Go into the Nest app and make sure to take a screenshot of the hot water schedule, so I can see what the expected behavior would be. Also from the hot water control page, tap on the cogwheel in the upper right corner to go into the settings section and take a screenshot of all the settings there as well so I can check those.
