How chk Learning Thermostat warranty status with no Google home account?

After only 15 months' use our new Nest learning thermostat stainless steel PRO Edition failed, confirmed by our electrician. The energy-saving co that installed it offers only a one yr warranty. I cannot seem to check the warranty status online because my wife, who has a Google.com account, never set up a HOME in her account.  She simply managed the thermostat over Wi Fi.  I called the Nest Warranty number 650.331.1127, waited an hour while multi-tasking, finally pushed a digit to leave a msg to get a call back but got a msg the mailbox is full and messages are not allowed. This seems very difficult.  QUESTION:  given these circumstances, how can I check to see if Google offers more than a one-year warranty on my unit?  i have the serial number.  thanks, Lee
